Available Positions

Now Hiring: Postdoctoral and Graduate Researchers

Biomedical Engineering positions available at the Biomimetic Research Laboratory (California NanoSystems Institute, CNSI, UCLA) and the Chan Soon-Shiong Bionic Engineering Center (Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, HSSEAS, UCLA directed by Professor Wentai Liu, Ph.D).

Successful candidates will work with electrical and computer engineers, bioengineers, neuro-engineers/scientists, and medical clinicians to develop the state‐of-the‐art biomimetic systems for in-vitro and in-vivo applications.

The miniaturized and integrated systems include front-end analog, amplifier, recording/stimulation, bio-signal processing, classifiers and decision circuits, wireless technology, power telemetry, electrode array, hardware/firmware/softwarehermetic packaging, and system integration of neural implants.

The systems are further empowered by the availability of 3D integrations through our industrial collaborators. Strong collaborations have been established with teams at prestigious medical schools such as UCLA, USC, UCSF, NCKU, and industry partners.

Expertise and qualification:
  • Be passionate in the career of biomedical engineering
  • Possess a doctoral degree in electrical engineering or related fields or,
  • Am in process of obtaining a doctoral degree
  • Must have credential for multiple tape-outs in analog, digital and mixed-mode IC design for ultra low-power applications
  • Strong background in biomedical device development preferred
  • RFIC design experience through coursework or graduate research preferred
  • Experience in cognition, physiology, biology, bio-signal processing, EM-field, microwaves/antenna, computer interfacing, and in-vitro/in-vivo experiment is a plus
  • Excellent writing and spoken English, demonstrated through journal publications and conference presentations
  • Highly motivated, goal oriented
  • Able to work as a team member while being an independent thinker
